Weighing in on Weight

A few weeks ago I began the journey to a healthier me. As a kid and a teenager, I always felt self conscious about the fact that I was bigger than a lot of other kids my age. I wasn’t necessarily fat, I was just bigger and taller. As I got older, I was pretty happy with my size, even though I was still bigger than my best friend, who was 6 inches shorter than me and a size 4/5. She was very athletic, always into sports and running, and I was not.

Physical education was the class I dreaded most in junior high, because of my asthma. After a few small asthma attacks, I ended up getting a doctor’s note to excuse me from running the mile, but I still hated having to play any sports in class, because I am so uncoordinated. Eventually, I was excused from P.E. altogether, and would sit in the library doing reports for my teacher.

May Arts Walk

The Arts Walk always feels like it comes up so fast… It’s 3 weeks from today and I still have sooo much work to do. Most of my earrings are not ready-to-ship items, as they’re relatively quick to make. But I want to take them to the Arts Walk, so I have to get assembling! I also have to make price signs for each item, add them to my Square account, figure out the setup, and get everything packed up in time. It’s a lot.

Clutches and Progress

A few weeks ago, my mom came and stayed with Eric and I for a few days. We were finally able to go shopping together for the supplies for the painted clutchesΒ that I mentioned a few posts back. We ended up hammering out all the details and I was really glad to see how excited she was by it. I showed her all the different clutch shapes as well as card cases, passport holders, and key chains. It all started to feel real once I purchased the fabric and vinyl. We settled on a few details that I was having a hard time making my mind up about (Thread color, velcro color, etc) and that definitely helped ease my mind.

New Shapes!

New shapes are almost here! I have been working on trying to come up with a new, unique shape for my leather earrings. The leather earrings game is saturated with tear drop and feather shaped earrings. Seriously, everywhere I look, I see tear drops in every shape possible (Yes there are different shaped tear drops). I wanted something different when I started out, so I started with the circles. They look great on me, so I started pumping them out like nobody’s business.

RSA Studios

I am so incredibly excited to announce the opening of my newest shop, RSA Studios! It’s been something I’ve had on my mind for a while, but knew it was going to be a big undertaking. As I’ve started clearing out RebeccaSteenCraftsΒ of items that don’t sell or that I have no interest in making, I realized that no matter how much I cleared out, my earrings were not going to fit in. My crafts shop will remain open, but with far fewer items. I will be focusing on home decor, which includes the wooden wall signs, cross stitch wall decor, and decorative mirrors.
