Comparison is the Death of Joy

“Comparison is the death of joy” — Mark Twain

Ain’t that the truth? I’ve found myself comparing a lot these days. Comparing my work to others. Comparing my success to their success. Comparing how happy I feel to how happy they SEEM to feel. It’s really the worst.

Product Reviews Soon!

Hey all, Happy Friday! This is going to be a quick update 🙂 As I mentioned in my first post, I’m going to be sharing a bit about my slouchy style, but I have also decided to share some of my favorite products with you. I don’t subscribe to any monthly beauty boxes anymore, but I do like to purchase the Target Beauty Box when it comes out. It’s unfortunately not a subscription, nor is it on a regular schedule. I purchased the last one that came out and am working on trying all the products.

Next week I’ll start reviewing a few of the products that I have tried from this box, as well as some products that I’ve received in the past that I loved!

I also receive a lot of free samples through the mail, so I’ll try to review them all here for you guys 🙂 I occasionally purchase a Birchbox and I’ve also received a BeautyFix box. I just can’t keep up with all of them every month and the samples kept piling up!

Enjoy the weekend 🙂

5 Places I Want to Go in 2016 – No 1

I read a post recently over on A Beautiful Mess about 5 places she wants to go in 2016. It was inspiring so I decided to write my own version.

Realistically there are more than 5 places I’d love to go, but won’t get to this year. I guess I could write a list about ALL the places I’d like to go, EVER, but that would be quite a list. I’m going to split this into 5 posts, so you don’t feel like you’re reading a novel 😉

How to Upcycle a Cheap Faux Leather Cuff

A few weeks ago I was spending some leisure time in Hobby Lobby, one of my favorite craft stores, browsing pretty much every single aisle. I happened upon a section of clearance jewelry and found these 2 green faux leather cuffs

I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with them, but at $1.80 I felt I couldn’t pass them up. I knew I would be able to make something nice out of them!

Shopping Addict – Saving Saturday

Last week I wrote a post about what I do to save money on necessities like groceries. But let’s be real… I most certainly did not stop spending money on clothes when I quit my job. I did cut back, A LOT, but not completely. I still need to keep my wardrobe somewhat updated, although I don’t expect to keep up with all the latest trends.

So below I have attached a list of a few of my favorite ways to shop without breaking the bank… Too much.

A Little Back Story

I’ve talked multiple times now about the fact that I quit my job to focus on my art full time. I suppose it’s time to dive a little deeper into that subject.

Up until November, I was working full time in Retail Management. For the most part, I liked what I did. I was the Merchandising Manager for a small Japanese company. My position consisted of getting new product to the floor, as well as resetting aisles of existing product. This is the part of the position that I really enjoyed. The other side of what I did was management. In retail, this not only entails managing lower level employees, but also dealing with customer issues. Which there were a lot of.

Leather Earrings and Two of my Favorite People

Leather earrings are my favorite accessory right now. I pretty much wear them with everything at this point. I wear them at home, with yoga pants and an old t-shirt. I wear them when Eric and I are going out for dinner or drinks. I even wear them in between, when I’m running errands or going to hang out with my nephews. They really do make me feel so put together. I’ll be honest, I was never a fan of large earrings. They just weren’t for me. But when it comes to leather earrings, the bigger the better, because they’re so easy to wear.DSC01786.JPG
